"....is either a little Liberal or else a little Conserva-tive!"

On March 30 1886 after the regular fixture list had been completed, the club held a charity match between the Gloucester  “Liberals” and the Gloucester “Conservatives”.

The Liberals won by 1 goal and three tries to 1 try. The gate money was £20.

The Citizen reported that “The better condition of the Liberals told after half time and the Conservatives were beaten at all points.”
