Richmond Tamed

You may think of London teams as more cultured than Gloucester, but according to a note (probably by Bill Bailey of the Citizen), you would be wrong. On 9th November 1901, Richmond were beaten 8-0 at Kingsholm – “A very hard game, the Richmond forwards being much heavier than the Gloster pack. The Gloster players were continually being knocked out owing to the mad rushing and kicking of the visitors who seemed to have a very elementary knowledge of the modern game. Goddard’s try was the result of the brilliant individual run.”
