A closeup showing why the sand needs to be spread.
Dispersing the sand whilst in the background more sand is being laid.
The brush on the front of the tractor continues to disperse the sand whilst on the back of the tractor the long tines rake the surface.
A close up of the rake raised up to enable the tractor to turn round.
The rake in action amid clouds of dust.
On the left - laying more sand. On the right brushing and raking the sand. The effect of the rake can clearly be seen.
Meanwhile clearing out the irrigation sprinkler positions continues.
Looking good but more to do.
Don't get too excited! It's still only plastic. Grass comes later.
The pile of sand is reducing but it will take several more days to get it all onto the new pitch.
The mat has now been laid across the whole pitch and a first layer of sand applied. Overall several hundred tons of sand will be applied and bedded into the mat to form a good layer for grass roots growth.
