Day 53 - Friday 29 June - Weather is a factor

Progress

From a distance nothing much seems to have changed.    However, the grass is gradually thickening and is being cut regularly at 50mm height.   The run-off area at the west end of the pitch has now been neatly joined to the Astro-Turf layer just in front of the barrier.   The similar area along the side of the pitch is still to be fitted with a soft absorbent layer.

Weather

During much of June the country has been in the middle of a prolonged hot and dry spell.   The wind, such as it is, has been coming from the east which is quite unusual for this time of year.   Over the last week temperatures have reached well into the upper 20s centigrade. All of this presents the Kingsholm Ground-staff with significant challenges.   With the weather forecast showing little change over the immediate future, any water restrictions would make things even more difficult.   Nonetheless the ground-staff and County Turf continue to work together to achieve the best result possible.
