Extra ct taken from a Citizen report on the Gloucester A v. St. Mark’s game played at Kingsholm on Saturday 20 Feb. 1897:
“The next free kick fell to St. Mark’s, and the ball going over the Gloucester goal line, Romans touched down.The game worked down to the other end again, where a flock of sheep crossing the field caused a momentary cessation of hostilities. . .”
