Day 12 - Saturday 19 May - Lateral drains completed. Moving sand starts
Later drains at 5m intervals all completed.
White posts mark the positions of the water sprinkler heads (still to be reinstalled) in the middle of the pitch.
More sand has arrived. The pile on the right is of a coarser variety to be used in the longitudinal drainage slits.
Coarser, more gritty sand
Piles of sand at the eastern end of the ground ready to be spread across the surface.
More sand at the other end of the ground.
Two dumper trucks work in parallel to transfer the sand from the car park onto the pitch.
That's how they fill the dumper trucks.
Another one hits the dust!
At the end of Thursday some of the lateral drains had been installed at 10m intervals. During Friday (Day 9) the initial set of drains had been completed and a further set had been installed mid-way between the initial set. So over the whole area of the pitch lateral drains have been installed at 5m intervals.
More sand had arrived making it necessary to set up two new additional piles in the main car park. On Saturday morning work started on transferring the sand from the car parks onto the pitch area.
